In the deep, dark, back corner of the library, a book hungers. It knows what will entice. It can change its form to suit you. Ensnare you. Will you escape? And are you really alone?

Dev Notes:
Inspired by Legend of Zelda, Zork Nemesis, Fushigi Yuugi, Neverending Story, and Myst.

I learned a lot about Bitsy in a short amount of time, making this. My biggest breakthrough was using "exits" as walk-over event triggers by having them automatically "lock" shut, disabling their movement functions and only activating their accompanying dialogue.

All game art and music was created by me within Bitsy (make.bitsy.org)

This was shown as part of the Fall 2023 Hostos Student Arcade.

The accompanying video was made using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, and the free web-based pixel art creation program Piskel (piskelapp.com). Free images of libraries, books, and gameboys, as well as the music, were obtained from the website pixabay.com.
